Yoga is a way of life an integrated system of education for the body, mind and inner spirit. This art of right living was perfected and predicted thousand of years ago. Yoga deals with the universal truth, its teachings are as valid today as they were in ancient times.
Yoga is conducive to health and longevity. Its practice regulates the action of heart, lungs, brain and internal organs. It removes all sorts of diseases.
In Yoga the physical exercise called Asans are non violent and provide gentle stretching that acts to lubricate the joints, ligaments tendons and other parts of body. They help to tone the nervous system, improve circulation, release tension and increase flexibility.
Regular practice of yoga is not only beneficial to healthy people it may improve many diseases and disabling conditions e.g. diabetes, hypertension, bronchial asthma, obesity, epilepsy, back pain, knee pain, arthritis, menstrual disorders and help weight reduction and many more. It is not known to cure the diseased condition but regular practice can improve the condition to that extent that affected person may not need to take his regular medication or may need to reduce dosage.
Yoga for Diabetes and Obesity
Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death in the world and UK. Diabetes means the body does not produce or use insulin properly. Insulin is the hormone responsible in converting sugar starch and other food into energy.
Diabetes can be developed by any one, young and old. One of the most important causes is obesity which affects almost 60% of population. Obesity and Diabetes are also termed Twin Epidemic. Obesity may be defined as the excessively high amount of body fat in relation to lean body mass. Both diabetes and obesity are highly preventable through proper diet exercise and life style changes.
